Soil testing
services

Start with the basics. Add more only where it will change a decision. Every test is sampled by our team and analysed by a UKAS‑accredited laboratory.

What we test

  • Basic soil test

pH, phosphorus, potassium and magnesium. The starting point, and the test the law requires on arable land.

    From £15 per sample

  • Trace elements

13 trace elements, the key ratios and cation exchange capacity, for anyone who wants to go deeper.

    Priced per job

  • Organic matter

A baseline for soil health and a target to work towards, sampled so you can measure the change.

    Priced per job

  • Carbon

Bulk density, total, organic and inorganic carbon, total nitrogen and C:N ratio. Deep‑cored at consistent depth with our Wintex 1000.

    Priced per job

  • PCN

Potato cyst nematode numbers, species and hotspots, so you can plan rotations before the crop suffers.

    Priced per job

  • Precision mapping

Variable‑rate maps for nitrogen, seed, lime and nutrients. Give each part of the field only what it needs.

From £6.20 per hectare for nitrogen or seed. Lime and nutrient maps included with most testing.

  • Every field mapped for pH, phosphorus, potassium and magnesium on the ADAS index.
  • Lime requirement in tonnes per field, at the target pH you choose.
  • A results table you can hand straight to your agronomist.
  • Shapefiles that drop into most farm software for variable‑rate application.

Four steps, and we work around your calendar

Get a price for your land
  1. Plan

We work out what you want from the testing and design a sampling plan to fit it.

  2. Sample

Our team comes to you at a time that suits. Heated‑cab ATVs mean we can sample as long as the land can be travelled on.

  3. Analyse

Twelve cores make one sample, one sample per hectare. Every sample goes to a UKAS‑accredited laboratory.

  4. Report

We go through the results with you, in the format you want. Then it's over to you and your agronomist.

Not a farm? Test a garden, paddock or allotment by post

We send you a sample bag and instructions. You post the soil back. The same UKAS‑accredited lab tests it and you get a report with recommendations.

  • Broad spectrum soil test

pH plus 12 further elements and organic matter. The right one for grazing paddocks.

Questions we get asked

How much does it cost?

It depends on what you want, where you are and how much land there is. As a guide: soil sampling from £15 per sample, variable‑rate nitrogen or seed mapping from £6.20 per hectare, and lime and nutrient maps included with most testing. Tell us about the land and we'll give you a proper number.

Do I have to test my soil?

If you farm arable land in England, yes. Since 2018 it has been a legal requirement to test all cultivated arable soils for basic nutrients at least every five years. A basic soil test covers it, and the same results feed your variable‑rate plan.

Is there a minimum area?

No. We believe in equal rights for all soil. We have options for land of all shapes and sizes, including smallholders and enthusiastic gardeners.

When can you sample?

As long as the land can be travelled on. Our ATVs have full heated cabs, so we're far less dependent on good weather windows than a team on foot. We'll pick a time that doesn't get in the way of your operations.

Where do you cover?

Customers across the UK. Our base is in Northamptonshire and we have experienced operators across the country.

Who does the analysis?

A UKAS‑accredited laboratory. We do the sampling and the reporting; the chemistry is done by people whose only job is chemistry. And because we don't sell inputs, the numbers are just the numbers.
